Family work
We work systemically – understanding that everyone, clients and therapists, lives and operates within multiple social groups and settings including family, educational, neighbourhoods, medical and legal.
We are affected by these systems – emotionally, behaviourally, psychologically – often without fully realising their significant impact.
Much of our work depends heavily on our clients’ caregivers’ help and support to bring about positive change.
We recognise that the vast majority of parents want the best for their children, and that we all need help in providing what is best.
We aim to work collaboratively with caregivers, knowing that taking a blaming stance is very unhelpful and counter-productive.
A systemic approach by necessity means we actively work with all adults involved in the client’s care whilst always maintaining the boundaries of confidentiality.
