Body work
At NAOS we recognise that trauma can be stored in the body.
We offer a variety of techniques from body psychotherapy, movement therapy, deep tissue massage, reflexology and reiki.
Our therapists hold a safe space, providing professional safe touch to support clients in gaining a greater awareness in their bodies and develop a more positive attitude and perception of themselves.
Trauma Sensitive Yoga
Trauma Sensitive Yoga (TSY) has been designed to ensure that the client is empowered to connect with their bodies to counter the negative effects of trauma.
Clients who learn to notice their internal experience and make informed choices based on what they feel may start to develop the capacity to make their own choices about how they react to the world around them, modifying and changing their own behaviour.
TSY supports clients in making the all-important primary attachment to themselves and their bodies, which may in turn enable them to start to make positive safe attachments to others.
TSY takes a bottom up (from the body to the brain) stance with the focus being solely on the body and its relationship with our emotional (limbic) brain and somatic (body) memory.
